Meeting Minutes

Nick DeVault delivers the Principal/Asst. Principal’s report: DVDs from the Talent Show are being produced and will be available soon. Lutz will have a full-house this fall. Although 34 students are completing in August, as of now we will have 57 new students this fall. Class lists should be available early next week. Also, thanks to Jessica for her work on the yearbook, which is available now.

John Nader reminded everyone to vote in the Aug. 7 primary election.

John and Nick then presented flowers to Kim and Carol, LPG’s departing president and treasurer.

Carol reports that our bank account balance was $11,917.34 last month. This month after including money from Weingartz fundraiser and one pay out for a what each funeral bouquet, today’s balance is $12,155.99.

Kim will also be writing a check soon to cover the 34 completers’ tickets to their banquet.

Completer committee update: Kim says we sought information and price bids for adding a Bocci court in back of the school. Of the two companies asked to submit bids, one was very high ($30,000), and the other has not yet produced its bid. So far, the cost is way too high to go forward.

We then have a discussion about proceeds from a bowling fundraiser two years ago, and then the failure of last year’s scheduled bowling fundraiser, which ended up being canceled for lack of participation. We decide to table this discussion until fall.

It is determined that the new Lutz Parents Group president will take over at the August meeting. Incoming President Julie Berger replaces outgoing President Kim Marchiori and incoming Treasurer Ilene Bernstein replaces outgoing Treasurer Carol Renkert. Our new Vice President is Lisa Dukicin. Jackie Galvan continues as secretary.

Due to the changing of the officers for the 2018-19 school year, the Lutz Parents Group will be changing the signers listed on the group’s account with the Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union. Jackie Galvan will remain on the account. Kim Marchiori and Carol Renkert will be removed from the account and Julie Berger and Ilene Bernstein will be added in their places as president and treasurer.

We have a discussion about LPG officers and what each job entails.

Since the calendar for the 2018-19 school year has not yet been finalized, we can’t set up a schedule for LPG meeting or events (dances).

We also decide to have Scott from MiAble, a new state savings program for special needs people, speak later in the school year and keep the info program Lutz and Beyond, which brings reps from various service agencies to the school, scheduled for the night of the Halloween Dance, tentatively set for Oct. 25. That reminds the group that we are looking for new LPG members to chair the three dances that take place during the school year.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.
