Spirit Week of Giving Wrap-Up

During the month of November, the Lutz Student Council sponsored the annual Lutz Spirit Week of Giving. For four days the students were invited to wear holiday clothing and/or accessories to get them in the holiday spirit and bring in various items to donate for stocking stuffers for children and teens living in poverty and seniors living alone without family support.

At the end of those four days, the Lutz students and families donated…well, let’s have a look!

A HUGE

to all the students, families, and staff that donated to help make this Student Council project possible.

On top of accepting the donations on behalf of the Macomb County Department of Human Services, the Student Council also stuffed as many stockings as they could with those donations. Along with parent volunteers, teachers and staff, they stuffed over 100 stockings to help brighten the holiday of those that might not otherwise remember there is reason to celebrate at this time of year.

Thank you to everyone who helped put these stockings together:

Parent Volunteers: Julie Berger, Katie Foukes, Janni McLean, Barbara Parker, & Lisa Dukicin

Staff Volunteers: Robin DeHayes (Decorated Tree & Bins); Catie Bosherz and Edwina Barsuhn

When all the donations were finally stuffed into stockings, the totals were as follows:

Child Stockings: Girl = 18 and Boy = 24

Teen Stockings: Girl = 22 and Boy = 11

Senior Stockings: 39

That brought the total to…drum roll please —

DRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

114 STUFFED TO THE HILT STOCKINGS!

And of course, an enormous THANK YOU to Lauren Steiner for the magnificent job she does. Without her dedication and support, this would not have been possible. Lauren and the Lutz Student Council did an AWESOME job!
