2018 Holiday Luncheon – A Fun-Filled Day

What a phenomenal day! I don’t know where I’ve ever seen more Christmas sweaters, shirts, hats, socks, and glowing light necklaces in my life…okay, maybe in Zack’s closet. But seriously, to walk through the hallways of Lutz today, you’d have thought Santa had moved his workshop to Clinton Township and all his elves were congregating for their pre-holiday celebration.

Perhaps they are not Santa’s “official” elves, but everyone at the school today was ready, willing, and able to celebrate the holidays with fun, food, music, and of course dancing.

While the teachers and staff kept the kids immersed in holiday festivities, the Parent Group was hard at work assembling goody bags and counting out supplies for lunch. Then they delivered a case of water to each class (all donated by our very generous members Jim & Sandra Young) along with the goody bags, napkins, and plates (all donated by another generous family — the Millers).

Once this task was done, the parent group caught their breathe while Ilene Bernstein, Jackie Galvan, and Katie Foukes headed over to Stony’s Pizza to pick up 58 boxes of pizza. And “Yes” 58 boxes of pizza does look like way too much, but when everything was said and done, we had only two boxes extra.

A HUGE, ENORMOUS, MOUNTAINOUS

to all the wonderful parents who donated items, helped assemble the goody bags, counted out plates and napkins, divided out pizza, and delivered everything in a timely, efficient manner.

Because of all their help everything was done quickly and easily. Plus it was a wonderful morning/afternoon of sharing stories and information, laughing, and catching up. It was really nice to see some new faces and meet some of the new parents.

A big also to the Lutz staff for all their assistance and for allowing us to use the WildCat Room to assemble our bags and prepare everything for delivery to the classrooms. Having the space to move around and spread everything out truly helped in making this one of the easiest events to pull together for the school.

And finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank Nick for completing all the forms for the student/staff breakdown for each room. Having these sheets made a huge difference this year in making this a stress-free day for all that were working hard to add to what was no doubt a memorable day for everyone that was there.

So by now your students are home for the holiday break, anxious to relax and enjoy their time away from school. But, if they are anything like my son, Zack, tomorrow they will tell you exactly how many days until they go back to school. And they will keep telling you. Everyday. Sometimes twice. And as it gets closer, perhaps three or four times a day. So by the time January 3rd rolls around, you’ve been counting the seconds till they’re going back too!

Happy Holidays to everyone. We hope you have a wonderful break and look forward to seeing many of you in the New Year at the next Parent Group Meeting, Tuesday January 8 in the Lutz cafeteria at 6:30 or at the Snowball Dance coming up January 17th from 6:30 to 8:30 in the Lutz gym.

Thank You and Merry Christmas from the LPG Board! ~ Lisa
