Snowball Dance – An Avalanche of Fun

With the first snowy forecast of 2019 for the weekend, it was a good thing the annual LPG Snowball Dance beat the cold and snow.

Hopefully you and your student were able to attend and enjoy an evening of dancing, wintry white snacks, and fun! Yet another successful event hosted by the LPG with tons of support from the Lutz staff and families.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped out. Remember: Events such as this don’t just happen, they are made and we cannot do this without lots of able-bodied hands. It takes planning, time, and dedication to pull an event such as this off.

So, let’s get on with all the thanks yous!

First and foremost thank you Ilene Bernstein and Norma Joshua-Lee the Snowball Dance Chairs. They took it upon themselves to make this dance a super affair that ran smoothly for everyone. Their efforts to coordinate parents and staff made this truly another night to remember. They are both indispensable to have as part of our Parent Group.

A big part of making this dance a success is owed to all the parents and caregivers that volunteered their time and/or made donations of money or supplies. It’s nice to have so many parents and caregivers step-up and take an active role in putting on the dance. Thank you:

  • Julie Berger
  • Kathy Donoher
  • Lili Ennes
  • Mary Gersch
  • Tonya Johnson
  • Ann Martin
  • Janni McLean
  • Donna Morgan
  • Susan Osterling
  • Laurie Smith
  • Michael Torres
  • Bobbie Vultaggio
  • Jim & Sandra Young
  • And there were other parents that stopped by, stepped up or jumped in to help but unfortunately I didn’t get everyone’s name, so please forgive this. Know that we truly appreciate the help and hope to see you at our next event.

Besides our parents, I can’t imagine how this could have been possible without the help and support of the Lutz staff and teachers. As always John Nader and Nick DeVault’s support and guidance was essential. Heidi Price collected and organized all the volunteer request forms as well as all the dance registrations, plus so much more. Chris Moore for his assistance in setting up the tables and chairs and all the help from the staff/teachers during the dance. I hope I have everyone that was at the dance to help out, but know your presence was essential and we truly appreciate your help. Those that I know for certain are:

  • Jill Woods & Emily
  • Laura Moore
  • Joe Delegato
  • Justin Steiner
  • Lauren Kennaugh-Steiner
  • Sue Catanese
  • Kathy Sawyer
  • I apologize for those not listed.

In addition to all the LPG board and committee members, parents, guardians, staff and teachers of Lutz, there were also more than a dozen volunteers from the International Academy of Macomb National Honor Society and Chippewa Valley National Honor Society that came and offered a hand. Many of the students enjoyed dancing and hanging out with these volunteers.

WOW! Once again that’s a lot of people and I know I have forgotten a few others that either didn’t sign in or just jumped in and lent a hand when we needed it.

So let’s take a look at the unofficial numbers for the 2019 Snowball Dance:

30+ Parents/Guardians, Staff/Teachers, NHS Volunteers, Board & Committee Members – working hard before, during and after the event to make sure the nearly 100 students (99 I was told) enjoyed a Snowball Dance to remember.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Again, if I have not listed someone I truly apologize. Shoot me an email and I will certainly update this list and give credit where credit is due.

Hopefully everyone is keeping warm and enjoying the long weekend. Look forward to seeing everyone at the next Parent Group Meeting (February 12th at 6:30 in the Lutz cafeteria).

Sincerely,

Lisa Dukicin, LPG VP
