When you think of Hawaii, several things come to mind:
Gentle breezes, palm trees softly swaying, warm beams of sunlight tickling your toes, and the calm melodic sound of waves as they form with the ebb and flow of the ocean. AAAHHHH.

Well, this was NOT anything like the Hawaiian Dance last night. To quote several of the parents there…
“It was ELECTRIC.”
The excitement and energy in the gym and Wild Cat room was palpable and as you can see by some of the bright smiling faces caught on film below, a total and complete success!
This success is due in great part to Bob & Mary Johnson (parents of Joy) and Julie Berger (parent of Brianna). It was their time, effort, organization, perseverance, and dedication that aligned the stars and pulled off this night of fun, music, dancing, and food. Plus Bob & Mary donated many of the great decorations donning the walls and the paper goods. Thank you hardly does what these great parents did justice.
Additionally, Beth Kemp and Paul Clavenna (parents of Adrianna) brought all the wonderful sweets for the sweet table. Beth made chocolate, lemon, and cotton candy cupcakes and the biggest chocolate chip cookies stuffed with M&M’s you’ve ever seen.

Oh and let’s not forget that Adrianna was responsible for all the artistic sprinkle designs on top of the unbelievably creamy butter cream frosting on the cupcakes. I could go on and on about this, but my mouth is watering so much now that my keyboard is at risk of giving me an electrical shock.
How does one say thank you for this generous act of kindness for our students? Again, thank you seems hardly enough.
The work that goes into putting on a dance may be lost on some people unless you have volunteered to help. Last night our volunteers started arriving between 5:00 and 5:15 to put up decorations, set up, and prepare for the students arrival at 6:30.

Staff and teachers either never went home after work or came back to help with set-up, assist in checking students in, supervising the sensory-friendly movie room, or helping out wherever they could.

I am continually in awe of these parents, staff, and teachers that selflessly donate their time and effort in order to ensure that every student attending these events has a fun-filled night. Plus we had student volunteers from the International Academy of Macomb National Honor Society and Chippewa Valley National Honor Society. Thanks to all of you…yeah, I really need to find that word that would show the appreciation due all these people.

It’s a beginning, but at the same time still is lacking.
There you have it! Another great evening, another spectacular memory, another undeniable success.
WAIT! I would be remiss if I didn’t thank all the parents, caregivers, and guardians that brought their students to the dance. Without your continued support of Parent Group events ~ you got it, this would not be possible.
Thank you ever so much everyone that helped make this years Hawaiian Dance one of the biggest and best. As Zack told me on our way home last night,
“This was the BEST DAY EVER.”
I second that.
In closing I’d like to throw out a few dates of events/functions that the Parent Group will be hosting or supporting in the next few months:
May 23 Lutz 2019 Field Day
May 25 Weingartz Hot Dog Fund Raiser – 2nd Annual thanks to Ann Martin (more information will be posted May 1st)
July 25 **Silver & Gold Friendship Dance (this is a Brand New Event-more information to follow)
Look forward to seeing you there.
