Lutz Field Day 2019 Follow-Up

As Memorial Day weekend comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to share a few pictures from Field Day that took place this past Thursday.  This was the first Field Day I was able to attend and can say it was a spectacular day. Everyone from the students to the staff and teachers to the parents/volunteers that helped out had a great time, despite the rain. It was unfortunate (or so we thought) that everything had to be moved inside, but in the end, everyone made their own sunshine and it didn’t stop anyone from enjoying the day.

There were 18 stations with games, a dunk tank where Jessica, Nick & Vinny egged the students on to try and dunk them in the water, grilled hot dog lunch organized by Tony Woznicki, and lots of fun with friends and staff. It was definitely a day the students — actually EVERYONE will remember for many months to come!

What really makes this event stand out is the work for this is done by the staff and teachers. With Lauren Steiner at the helm, she organized the day with all the games, food, and fun coordinated and donated by the staff and fellow teachers. This is just one more example of why Lutz School is such a treasure that we should all be grateful for. The dedication of the staff cannot be compared. Some examples would be:

  • Catie donated the Dunk Tank
  • Jessica donated Chips
  • Susan P. made a cash donation for chips
  • Krysten donated the Popsicles
  • Patti, Laura, Robin, and Edwina brought family & friend volunteers to help
  • Linda and Tracy ordered and picked up all the food items
  • Michele and Edwina helped with signs and set up
  • Pam helped with set-up and kept everyone hydrated with her wagon of water
  • Vinny made some really cool Field Day games
  • Chris Moore set up the entire day so that it flowed well
  • Ann Green, parent of Christopher M., donated all of the bottled water
  • Parent Group donated 400 pair of imprinted sunglasses to commemorate the event
  • And so much more!

This took a ton of time and effort to pull off and was a group effort. Along with the staff, there were about 55 parent volunteers that ran the games, helped grill the hot dogs, pack the food, and deliver the food to the students in their classrooms. A rewarding endeavor for everyone that participated.

On behalf of the Parent Group, I would like to thank Lauren and everyone that was involved in making Lutz Field Day 2019 – The Best Day Ever (to quote my son Zack)!

Here are a few pictures that give testament to the success of the day:
