2020 Keep In Touch Holiday Video

While I was part of the Lutz Parent Group, one of my favorite things to do was putting together video slide shows of the students, teachers, staff, and even parents from the various activities that took place at Lutz. Looking back on all the videos now is bittersweet. I love seeing all the students sharing priceless moments with the Lutz Family, yet seeing how much things have changed and the fact that Zachary completed in August, which means he will not have those moments again, is truly hard.

This year is so different than last, and yet I think it is so important that our students know there are still reasons to celebrate and that other students, families, and the Lutz staff are all doing their best during this hard time to make this season festive. We can talk until we’re blue in the face, but a picture/video says a thousand words.

As part of making this a December to Remember here on Keep In Touch, I would like to invite all Lutz families (past and present) and all Lutz staff and teachers to send me any photos or videos of you and your families preparing for the holidays. This might be putting up the tree, baking cookies, wrapping presents, decorating the house, or whatever you do to celebrate the season. Further, if any student, students family, teacher or staff member would like to record a short holiday greeting, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas or telling everyone how much you miss them, that would be great. I would like to have two sections to this video, one with photos and one with video messages.

I watched last years Holiday Luncheon video this morning and cried through it. A whirlwind of emotion filled me as I watched the students spending a fun-filled day in their second home — Lutz School. There was no social distancing, no crowd limitations, no masks, no fear. I have included the link to the video below with a WARNING: This may be hard to watch.

Lutz 2019 Holiday Luncheon

This year, let’s show the students how we celebrate at home and how we can still be together in spirit. Have faith that one day we will once again have uninhibited group gatherings without fear or worry, but until then, let’s do our part to show our students we are all part of the Lutz Family and no matter what, we are still here for each other.

Send all photos and videos to the Keep In Touch email (lutzkeepintouch@gmail.com) my personal email (dukicinclan@gmail.com), or text it to my new number (yes, I have a new phone-actually one of my daughters old ones, new number, and even data this time — I’m finally joining the 21st Century) (586) 224-1882.  I will send confirmations that I received submissions and let you know if I have any trouble with formats, etc. The deadline to send in photos/video will be December 20th. I would like to send out the video by Christmas Eve and I’ll need a few days to put it all together.

As always, stay safe and Keep in Touch ~
