A Valentine’s Dance To Remember

A week ago tonight the Parent Group sponsored the second dance of the 2019/20 school year…the Valentine’s Dance. If you weren’t there, you missed out on all the fun. If you were…well, I don’t need to tell you how much fun the students, teachers, staff, volunteers, and yes, even some of us parents had. It was another successful evening and on behalf of the Lutz Parent Group, I want to say…

We had an overwhelming response to our request for volunteers for this particular dance and thanks to the planning and organization efforts of Janni McLean, Ann Martin, and Julie Berger, the dance went off without a hitch. Thanks also to all the volunteers that helped set-up, run, and clean-up before, during, and after the dance. And I definitely have to thank all the volunteers that donated items for the dance. It’s these acts of kindness that keep the Parent Group running.

A huge thank you as well to all the teachers and staff that either stayed after school or came back to help out at the dance. Being that Mid-Winter Break started that day after school, it was especially generous of all of them to donate their time and efforts. We truly appreciate each and every one of you!

The Lutz staff plays an enormous role when it comes to implementing any event that the parent group sponsors. From getting the flyers out to the students, to collecting registration forms, to setting up tables, to decorating the gym…I could go on and on and probably should just so everyone would realize how phenomenal Lutz School is. The generosity of everyone — and I do mean EVERYONE — there is beyond words and there is really no way to thank them properly. Just know that we do appreciate EVERYTHING you do.

I also want to send out a special thank you to Tony for arranging to have the high school Honor Society students at the dance to help out. They pitched in everywhere and anywhere when needed and best of all — they danced, hung out and connected with our students. It is always heart-warming to watch our students soar to new heights when socializing with others beyond their Lutz friends and family.

Oh, I cannot forget to mention…see these cookies —

I bet you wish you could have one right now! Well, these were one of the treats served at the dance and our very own Food Prep class made them. I can’t speak for everyone, but believe me, they were delicious. Yeah I snuck one…just another perk of being part of the Parent Group–think about it! And yes I could have put in a smaller picture and it probably would have looked more proportionate to this post, but who are we kidding–who doesn’t want to look at those and drool all over themselves. Besides, I had to make sure you got a real good look at what you missed out on. Just one of many perks to being part of the Parent Group–just saying!

Well, it was really a great night and whether or not you were able to make it, I hope you’ll consider joining us at the next dance which will be the April 23rd – Hawaiian Dance. This is always one of the most popular dances complete with flowered shirts, flip flops, and even a grass skirt or two. Definitely mark your calendar. And if you haven’t volunteered to help out at the dance and you can, or if there are any other events you can help out at, please send in the Volunteer Sign-Up Form. I just happen to have one below for you to click on, print off, and return.

Also, please consider joining us at the next Parent Group meeting. We are holding them on Mondays for the next several months, so please take note. The date for the March meeting is March 9 at 6:30 in the Lutz cafeteria.

In closing, I’d once again like to thank EVERYONE who helped with this dance and with all the LPG events. As my final year with the Parent Group is quickly coming to end, I have to say it has been an absolute pleasure meeting so many wonderful people and working with all of you. I have included the link to a Valentine Dance video I threw together to show everyone what a great night it was. Hope you enjoy.
