September 10th marked the beginning of the 2020/21 school year. The decision to either send your student back or keep them home is a very personal one for each of you, but regardless if it’s virtual or in-person, the teachers and staff of Lutz are working hard to help every student make the transition smooth and this school year a good one.
To welcome Lutz teachers and staff back to school, the Lutz Parent Group kicked off the school year by providing three special days of treats for them.
Day 1: A muffin to start the day! Before students and buses headed back to school, 75 individual containers with muffins were dropped off at the school so the teachers and staff could enjoy something sweet for breakfast. There were three types of muffins to choose from (banana nut, chocolate or blueberry), each container was decorated with our heart/paw print logo on top of the container and adorned with a tag that read:
Muffin to do but appreciate you!

Day 2: Because we know that sometimes to get through the day, you just need to have some caffeine, we gave every teacher and staff member a $10 Tim Horton’s gift card. Each card was placed in a handmade, custom gift card holder and left in their mailboxes.
Day 3: As their last act as President and Vice President of the Lutz Parent Group, Julie Berger and Lisa Dukicin requested that they be allowed to donate and present the final gift for the teachers and staff. They chose to do a combo pack of Swedish Fish and Goldfish Crackers and attached a special tag that read:

Julie dropped them off at the school so they could be put into the staff/teachers mail boxes.

So even with all the changes that everyone is struggling to come to terms with, there are still some small acts of kindness, reminiscent of the way things used to be. The Lutz Parent Group continues to work to keep Lutz families connected, to make sure the teachers and staff know that their efforts are much appreciated, and to plan for the future when things go back to normal.
We would love to have you join us in our endeavors and the first step is to sign up for our mailing list HERE and of course to join us at one of our monthly meetings (more info on those HERE).
Take care and be safe. ~ The Lutz Parent Group
