Lutz Keep In Touch 2021 Daily Challenge

Happy 2021! It’s a new year, full of new opportunities, new possibilities, and most of all — new HOPE! And, here at Keep In Touch we are ready to take this new year of challenges head-on and continue working to keep our families and friends connected and dare I state the obvious…Keep In Touch.

Already we are working on several projects designed to occupy our minds, our time, and our hearts. {If you haven’t signed up for our Valentine’s Day Card Exchange, click HERE for all the info.} At the writing of this post, there are 354 new days to look forward to, each offering a fresh start toward making every day “The Best Day Ever.” Regardless if we are together in spirit, in thought, or in-person, it is so important to know we are all facing challenges and all need to know we are not alone each and every day. That is why we are going to offer an opportunity every day for the next 354 days for you to reach out, share, connect, or perhaps…just for a moment, escape your daily routine and have a little fun. (This is our plan, as long as there are students willing to participate.)

Tomorrow we kick-off our Lutz Keep In Touch 2021 Daily Challenge designed to encourage every Lutz Wildcat (past and present students) to participate in an activity and share it with the Keep In Touch community. Every day there will be a blog post here on our website, that will be shared to the Lutz Keep In Touch Facebook group, with a challenge to be completed. There will be a variety of activities and games, varying in difficulty and amount of time needed to complete, but all intended to bring us closer to a common goal — to Keep In Touch.

The types of activities and a link to a more thorough explanation of each follow:

  1. Photo Challenges
  2. A Moment of Inspiration, Motivation, or Humor
  3. What Am I? Riddle Day
  4. Puzzle/Game/Coloring Activity (print-off)
  5. Lutz Get Acquainted Question
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. Friday Night Trivia
  8. Catch-up Day (see below)

Some activities will require pictures to be sent in, others will have forms that need to be filled out and submitted through the website, some may require you to print off something to complete such as a word search or coloring sheet and then email me a photo of the finished sheet, and occasionally all you’ll have to do is “Like” or click a box stating you stopped by. I realize not every activity will be of interest to everyone, but as a way to encourage everyone to stop by each and every day, there will be certificates awarded for those participants that make an effort to connect every day, prizes for various activities, and special drawings and contests for those participants that maintain a “Never Miss a Day!” status.

Life happens, people are busy, work intervenes, and somedays the world is just too miserable to want to do anything — that’s why we have #8 Catch-Up Day. If you are unable to participate in any of the activities posted during the week, there will be one day a week (Sunday) for you to catch up on that weeks activities without penalty. Catch-up day is only for the previous weeks challenges. Once a new week begins (Mondays) the challenges for the previous week are closed. If you are planning any vacations or will not be available to complete challenges for any specific dates, contact me so we can make other arrangements if you want to maintain a “Never Miss a Day” status.

Oh, and don’t think that if you can’t make it every day or maybe don’t want to, that there aren’t incentives for you too. There will be certificates (sent via email) and awards for everyone regardless of how much they participate (well, you will need to participate at least once a month, however, to receive a certificate for that month). We’d love it if everyone found time every day to join in the fun, but if you can’t, know you can jump in at any time and come back whenever and as often as you like.

A point will be awarded for every activity attempted/completed. This doesn’t mean you have to come up with the right answers for Trivia or the riddle, or finish the puzzle or coloring sheets, it just means you have to show up, try, and let us all know you are out there trying to stay connected. Competition is a good thing though, so bonus points will be awarded for various activities and will be disclosed when they are posted. These points will be used to determine winners of special contests and awards and as an additional incentive to keep coming back — every day. Some days there will be an option to choose your challenge because one challenge might not be able to be completed by everyone. When two challenges are posted, only one needs to be completed, but there might be an opportunity to earn a bonus point if both challenges are completed. Not all days with two challenges will offer bonus points, so please read the challenge carefully.

Specifics on points and awards will become clearer as the challenges progress, so don’t worry too much about that now. This is a work-in-progress for me too, so first and foremost, have fun. The first challenge will be posted tomorrow morning around 9:00 am. I will try to maintain a normal schedule, but until we see how much interest there is in the Daily Challenge, I don’t want to commit to a specific one. For the first week though, challenges will be posted as follows:

  • Monday – Thursday: Around 9 a.m.
  • Friday Night Trivia: 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: Morning (updated 1/17/21)

If you have any questions or comments, use the form below to contact me. Take care and Keep In Touch.

Until tomorrow…

Lisa
