Daily Challenge for 8/13/21

Good Morning,

Before I share yesterday’s “fun” submissions, I wanted to share an email and picture received from Matthew S.

My mom fell in February 2020 and part of her multiple injuries was a wound on her right shin. She has been going to the wound clinic since March 2020. Her wound was declared all healed up by her wound doctor today!!!! So we celebrated her healing by eating Mexican food at El Charro and I paid…..which my dad loves!!!! It was fun celebrating my mom getting better.

Such wonderful news! So happy for you and your family Matthew!

And here are some of the ways others had fun yesterday:

How are you going to have some fun today?:

  • Dominique: Having fun with my pet NAGEL. Babysitting NAGEL. Playing his toys. Taking NAGEL to walk outside later. Feed his food and water
  • Megan: Splash in the puddles, make pictures to mail friends
  • Brendan J: My brother, my mom, and I met Production & Assembly at Emagine Theatre to see The Jungle Cruise! I LOVED IT!
  • Zachary L: My brother and niece came over and me and my brother were chasing each other around the house playing tag just like we used to do when he lived at home. We had so much fun!!
  • Taylor: I play my ping pong paddle Alot
  • Antonya: Maybe find something to do to have fun
  • Zack D: I started and finished a 100 piece puzzle and helped my mom by coding and decoding Keep In Touch challenges.

Also as part of yesterday’s challenge we celebrated National Baseball Fans Day! Participants were asked to send in a picture of their favorite baseball cap. Here are a few received:

Megan said “Too many to choose…favorite at the moment, DC Monster hat. Any picture of me usually has a hat (backwards)” and Brendan J said “I think I have a couple of caps from Challenger Baseball.”

We also received one more poem submission for our August Poem Challenge that I wanted to share. It comes from Megan:

Aunts visited
Uncomfortably humid
Great camping trips
Usually hot
Summer winding down
Trips to Special places

What I love about this, as well as all the poems, is they reveal a lot about the authors. It gives us a glimpse into what they’ve been doing and sometimes can even give us clues as to their likes and dislikes.

Today we are going to have Freaky Fast Friday! I need to work on trivia for tonight as well as finish up all the awards for July. Thankfully it is National Kool-Aid Day, which brings back a lot of fun memories for us which is another way that Happiness Happens!

Nostalgic happiness happens when we remember the past with fondness.

Nostalgia often creates instant happiness because we all recall memories that make us feel good.

Ironically, we can even find ourselves appreciating the past more in the present than we did in the moment it happened. Sometimes hindsight allows us to recognize how much we valued a certain time of our life.

Our future nostalgic moments will be based on the memories from our experiences today, so enjoy feeling nostalgic, but don’t forget to keep creating your future nostalgic memories, too.

Memories are a very powerful happiness maker and there are so many ways memories can be sparked. Seeing old photos, talking with family and friends, eating certain foods or drinking certain beverages…these all can transport your thoughts to another time and place full of happiness and love.

Kool-Aid is one such beverage that might just spark a few good memories for you. First, however, let’s see which flavor is your favorite and when is the last time you had some Kool-Aid. I’ve got some fun things to try with Kool-Aid and we’ll get to those a bit later. For today, share with us your thoughts on Kool-Aid and maybe a memory or two! Remember these:

Not even sure if they still sell these, but I remember buying tons of these when Zack & Kaila were little.

Have a great day!

Zack & Lisa
