Daily Challenge for 8/15/21

Started my morning out a little differently today. Rather than come straight to the computer to work on today’s challenge, I took Bella for a walk.

The morning was cool and crisp, so reminiscent of fall that a jacket was not only a comfort but a necessity! There wasn’t any breeze, which was a good thing because then it might have been down-right cold. The sun was shining, making my eyes water as they continued to adjust from a night of sleep to the new day ahead. Under my feet, the grass was wet from dew and Bella’s nose was covered with drops of it as she continually dipped her face deep into the long blades that thrive so well in this cooler weather.

No one was out. Our neighborhood was calm and quiet, peaceful really. The only sounds were the songs carrying from the trees of birds welcoming the new day. Not even the squirrels were up, much to Bella’s disappointment. They must be snuggling in late, enjoying this unexpected reprieve from the heat of August.

A wonderful way to begin the day.

Now, here I sit, with my first cup of steaming coffee, making a list in my head of everything that needs to get done today, of everything I need to do next week, of everything!

Well, today is National Relaxation Day! What a wonderful excuse to not do anything — or at least not do anything that you don’t want to!

Isn’t it funny how chores, responsibilities, the work that is the foundation of much of our day, can take hold of our thoughts and block out the beauty and wonder around us. The joy of being an adult. An entire day dedicated to relaxing…for some that might just be considered “the best day ever.” Is that true for you?

Would doing nothing today other than sitting around, watching movies, scrolling on your phone, be your idea of a great day? Are you content with sitting around relaxing or do you want to be doing something or going someplace? Do you find comfort in the familiar or prefer the excitement of something new?

Being that it’s National Relaxation Day, how are you going to celebrate or are you even going to? Either way, enjoy this Beautiful Best Day Ever! I’ll share the “fall” responses from yesterday tomorrow.
