6:15-7:15 a.m.
An MISD school bus will pick up your student during this time frame.
Transportation will send you a notice with an approximate pick up time. Your student should be ready at least 15 minutes prior to the designated time, especially during the first two weeks of school. If you have questions regarding your students bus and pick up time, the MISD Transporation Department can be reach at (586) 228-3333 between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
7:23 a.m.
Students arrive at Lutz and proceed to their lockers to put away their belongings. Students are responsible for everything they bring to school. Students may use their own lock on their locker if they wish. Staff is available at each door to assist students as needed.
7:23-10:00 a.m.
Students begin working at their assigned tasks. Tasks differ with each classroom. Some classes take this time to work on functional academics, job applications, etc. Other classes set the schedule for the day by assigning jobs at this time or prepare to leave the building. Crew classes leave the building between 8:30-9:45 a.m. and return between 1:00-1:45 p.m.
9:45-10:15 a.m.
Many classes take a 15 minute break during this time. Snacks are optional and your student’s teacher will indicate how they handle snacks.
10:15-12:15 p.m.
Students work until lunch time.
11:00/11:35/12:15
Lutz has three different lunch periods. Approximately 70-80 students eat in the Student Cafeteria with supervision provided by lunch aides. There is no availability for preparation or (re)heating of food for lunch. Please do not send food that requires the use of a microwave or stove. This service is not available to students during lunch period.
After Lunch
Students return to their classes to continue their work.
1:40-2:00 p.m.
Students who require assistance proceed to their buses at this time.
2:01 p.m.
Students proceed to their buses. Staff is stationed at each door and outside to assist and supervise. MISD transportation expects that a responsible adult is at the student’s home when he/she arrives home. Transportation will need to make eye contact with that person prior to releasing your student from the bus. If your student is able to be “home alone,” please inform Lutz Administration. There is a special card that will need to be filled out.
