A Year Full of Activities!

The Lutz Parent Group organizes many activities for the students and staff throughout the year. Here is a breakdown for the 2019/20 school year:

Fall Halloween Dance – October 24, 2019

The Halloween Dance is the first dance of the new school year. Students are invited to dress up (if they wish) in their Halloween costumes and enjoy a few hours of dancing and fun with fellow students, staff, parents, and volunteers.

Parent/Teacher Conference Lunch – November 14, 2019

We provide lunch for the teachers and staff during Parent/Teacher Conferences. Parents volunteer to make/donate a dish to keep the teachers and staff fueled as they meet with parents throughout the day and evening.

Holiday Luncheon – December 19, 2019

The last day of school before Christmas break, the Parent Group provides pizza and drinks for the staff and students. Additionally, there is a goodie bag for each student that has a candy cane and annual Lutz ornament in it.

Valentine’s Dance – February 13, 2020

The second dance we put on is a Valentine’s Dance in February. It’s a great way for the students to shake some of the bitter cold of winter from their bones and come out of hibernation for a few hours of fun.

Spring Hawaiian Dance – April 23, 2020

To celebrate Spring’s arrival, we host a Hawaiian Dance in April. No where else will you find more Hawaiian shirts, flip flops or grass skirts. Definitely a night full of color and fun to get everyone ready for warm weather ahead.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon – Week of May 4-8 (date TBD)

In May the Parent Group provides a luncheon for all the teachers and staff as a thank you for all they do. We look for donations of salads, sides, desserts, and pop/drinks from parents.

Annual Field Day – May/June (date TBD)

Although not a “Parent Group” event, the Lutz Annual Field Day is another opportunity for parents and caregivers to volunteer. Field Day is a full day activity held outdoors on the Lutz school grounds. With the help of the parent group, each classroom plans/runs a game/obstacle for all students to participate in. Students rotate to various events with their classroom. A free hot dog, chip, and beverage lunch is provided for all staff, students, and volunteers. There is also a dunk tank and a staff water balloon toss! In 2019 the Parent Group supplied custom imprinted sunglasses for all the students.

Weingartz Annual Hot Dog Fundraiser – May 25, 2020

The Parent Group sponsors several fundraisers throughout the year, but the Weingartz Hot Dog Fundraiser is one where the students, staff, and parents can all get involved. Whether volunteering to man the booth by selling hot dogs or grilling, parading up and down Van Dyke in front of the tent beckoning drivers to stop and support our cause, or just stopping by to enjoy a hot dog or two, this is one event you don’t want to miss.

Summer Silver & Gold Friendship Dance – July 23, 2020

The newest of the dances sponsored by the Parent Group and the last of the school year, the Silver & Gold Dance is an opportunity for students to have one last bash with their friends who are “Completing” (gold) as well as an opportunity to meet the new students (silver) joining Lutz School for the coming school year. A celebration of friendship and a great opportunity for students as well as parents, guardians, and staff to get to know each other.

So there you have it. A year-full of activities for the students and a year-full of opportunities for you to support the Lutz Parent Group.
