Living in Michigan is truly wonderful. Some people have lived here all their lives, while others moved here from other states or even other countries. Michigan also offers a ton of fun places to visit and activities to do. I have lived here all my life and still haven’t experienced much of what this great state has to offer. Brendan Johanson – How long have you lived in Michigan?: All my life! 20 years! What city do you currently live in? Roseville Have you lived in any other parts of Michigan? If so, where?: Sterling Heights (Birth – 13 years; Roseville 13 – present.) What areas/places in Michigan have you visited?: Port Huron. We used to go every month when my brother was in Sea Cadets. I loved playing at Pine Grove Park. On cold days I loved hanging out at the Birchwood Mall & riding the carousel! One time I won (in a drawing), a gift certificate to stay at Zehnders Hotel for a couple of days! We had a blast in their aquatic center! We loved going to Kellogg’s Cereal City in Battle Creek. We were so sad when it closed. Playing at Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum in Farmington Hills. Spending time at Halloween & Christmas at Crossroads Railroad & Huckleberry Village! Ditto for going to The Henry Ford Village for their Halloween & Holiday programs; the Detroit Zoo for their Zoo Boo & Wild Lights. Cranbrook has a Science Halloween program! This year we got to wear our costumes & Zoom in for the fun! Trick-Or-Treating on Tilson Street in Romeo! Love going to various zoos & science centers. The animals can be so funny! Planetariums are so relaxing. (Except for the “planet roller coaster” show at Cranbrook Science Center. I loved a field trip to MCTI in Kalamazoo when I was a senior at Neil Reid High School. What a fun & interesting place. Which area/place is your favorite?: Going to Zehnder’s was a very special trip! Otherwise ALL of the family Halloween programs! October is one big Halloween fest in MI! What are some of your favorite Michigan activities to do?: Walking arund the Detroit Zoo; the Henry Ford Museum & Village. I love the different indoor pools.(Lapeer; Macomb; & Warren Community Centers. And Zehnders is a blast!) Going for a walk at Yates Cider Mill. It’s so pretty along the river. Playing Challenger Baseball in Summer & now we have an informal Fall League. And, of course, being a Lutz Student and making so many friends at Lutz. How many of the Great Lakes have you been to and which ones?: Three. Lakes Eerie, Huron, and Michigan. Do you like living in Michigan?: Yes, except for Winter. If you could move to any other state, would you and which one?: CA or FL. They’re both a LOT warmer year round. My grandma lives in CA; but Brian is stationed in FL. Both states claim Disney & Universal attractions. Is there anything else you’d like to share about your history in Michigan?: I love the mild weather (except Michigan.family ice. I don’t like walking in those.) Fall is gorgeous in MI! I love the variety of family activities year round. Romeo Parks & Rec has great activities year round. Tilson Street, Romeo, at Halloween is so cool.

Then we moved to McKinney, TX in 2012. We moved up here to Shelby Township in 2016. What city do you currently live in? : Shelby Township Have you lived in any other parts of Michigan? If so, where?: No. What areas/places in Michigan have you visited?: Mackinaw Island, Pictures Rocks, Petoskey, Frankenmuth, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Honor Michigan on Little Platte Lake, Lake Michigan, Port Huron, Lake St Clair, Detroit and surrounding cities. Which area/place is your favorite?: Mackinaw Island What are some of your favorite Michigan activities to do?: Sailing on Lake St Clair, Walking up Sleeping Bear Dunes and Riding the ferry and horse-drawn carriages on Mackinaw Island. Is there anything else you’d like to share about your history in Michigan?: I love my house with the small creek behind it with lots of Mallard ducks that we feed cracked corn. It’s fun to feed them. They are real beggars and come running to the house when they see us in the kitchen!
