April 2019 Meeting Minutes

Lutz Parents Group

Tuesday, April 9, 2019

Principal’s Report: Health Ed classes just finished up. A seminar on Social Security is scheduled for tomorrow night. Lauren reports that 117 Easter Baskets were made. Leslie Talos, a para in our custodial maintenance class, was named Para of the Year. Forms for choosing next year’s classes will go home soon.

Introductions.

Account balance: Same as last month, $12,894.66

Butterbraid Sale: Ann Martin reports that 200 butterbraids were sold and we get either $6 or $8 per braid. She will put the order in tonight. A few people from outside Lutz bought braids, she said.

Weingartz Fundraiser: Everything is pretty much set. We have enough volunteers for all shifts. We still plan on giving everyone who buys a hot dog combo a Lutz-produced cookie. We are also planning to set up a photo board with pictures of our students so folks can get a sense of our school. Flyers for this event will go out soon . We also found out that the husband of our PE teacher, Pam, works at Weingartz. She is reserving another Weingartz date for Special Olympic fundraising.

Spring Spiritwear Sale: We did a poll on what people would like to purchase, which was very helpful. The top items were: unisex shirts, golf shirts, baseball hats, backpacks, plain tees, windbreakers, tie-dye apparel, polos and shorts. Ann Martin, who is organizing and running the sale, said students will be able to buy inexpensive polos, suitable for most work sites, for $15, including embroidery. Samples will be on hand the night of the Hawaiian Dance, April 25th.

Hawaiian Dance: We’ve got everything we need, just need people to work it.

Lauren will be sending out a volunteer form for Field Day, which is May 23.

John and Nick will make a last-minute decision on where to hold the MiAble meeting, depending on how many people RSVP. It is the same night as the Hawaiian Dance.

Lisa: Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon: we are pretty much set with food and volunteers.

We also discuss putting a little snack in every staffer’s mailbox either at the beginning or end of Teacher Appreciation week.

John showed a planner that we could buy as a back-to-school gift for teachers. It’s $1.50 per item, from Amsterdam Printing. We can personalize the cover. We decide to do this.

May 23rd, Field Day

Parent group would like to buy imprinted sunglasses for everyone at Field Day, about 400 pairs, at about 50 cents a piece. If Lauren has questions, she can contact Lisa. Navy with white imprint on side, black lenses.

Our June 11th LPG meeting will be a potluck. Everyone is invited, you can bring a dish or not. At next month’s meeting there will be a sign-up sheet, and we will also be looking for RSVPs from all parents.

Our next meeting is Tuesday, May 14th at 6:30 p.m.
