LPG minutes from January 14, 2020 meeting
Attendance was low due to many being ill.
Principal’s report was presented by Tony as John and Nick were unable to attend. Tony stated that we have 2 new job sites, Shelby Healthcare and E A Graphics, but didn’t know what classrooms would be working at them.
Current LPG bank account statement balance was given by treasurer, Janni $16,806.05 but this did not include a check she had just written for Spirit Wear which was $2,199 bringing the balance to $14,607.05.
Recap of the holiday luncheon from Julie “It was a very nice and well organized day.” Everyone was so happy to be asked to help with the craft activities and had lots of fun and would love to help again next year. Pizza order was spot on.
The Valentine’s Dance is Thursday, Feb. 13th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Janni and Ann are co-chairing this event. Plus Janni invited a “new recruit” to the meeting to also help with the dance- welcome Jessica! Janni already has rubber “love” bracelets picked out (which will be given to students to divide them into 3 groups) and will order them from Oriental Trading soon as it’s free shipping right now. We have lots of decorations and desserts are TBD. Tony will contact IAM and Chippewa Valley H S students to volunteer and also check with the food prep class for a price for heart shaped cookies. Julie said Ann said that she would like to sell the Spirit Wear samples at the dance as well.
Sandy Young suggested putting out a survey to see what the school needs/wants to spend down our account. If it’s something big and expensive (covered picnic area/gazebo) more fundraising would be needed. Another idea would be a “class gift” each year starting with the class of 2020. The hope of this idea would be to possibly start a new tradition. This gift could be a bench, picnic table, etc. Again the survey would be helpful in determining what is needed most.
Sandy also brought up that it’s not too early to start planning for teacher appreciation week (1st full week of May). Tony will ask Pam when Special Olympics is scheduled and then the luncheon date will be set. In addition to the luncheon, the other 3 days that week we will give some sort of gift. Julie’s suggestion of a gift card was agreed upon unanimously and the remaining 2 days will be something more nominal. We are open to any creative ideas.
Our next meeting is Feb 11th @ 6:30pm
