March 7’s Daily Challenge was answer some questions about cereal in honor of National Cereal Day. Below are the responses received.
Roxanne Bernieri: Did you or are you having any cereal today? If so, what kind?: Not today
What are your favorite types of cold cereal?: Cereals that contain wheat or raisins, that are good sources of fiber.
What are your favorite types of hot cereal?: I have eaten hot oatmeal before. Not really lately though.
Are there any other cereal-related things that you like? (ie. cereal bars, etc): Some protein bars with cereal.
Besides eating cereal in a bowl with milk, are there any other ways you enjoy cereal? (ie. in yogurt, in smoothies, etc.): Eating it in a bowl dry.
Have you cooked or baked something with cereal? (ie. Rice Krispie treats, fried chicken): Rice Krispie treats, Christmas cookies shaped like wreaths, made with corn flakes.
Are there any flavors or types of cereal that you wish they made? For example, people who love Oreos were probably thrilled when they came out with a cereal with them. Same goes for Reese’s lovers? Are there any products that would make a great breakfast cereal?: Peanut butter, raisins, molasses, sugar, strawberry and raspberry all in one cereal. Also a cereal that features pasta with marinara sauce, mixed in with some sugar and sprinkles. Caramel apple cereal with sugar, peanuts and sprinkles. For Halloween a cereal that features pumpkin, but no cinnamon. Not everything needs cinnamon in it! A trend I would like to see go away.
Lastly, what should NEVER be made into a breakfast cereal? I really wouldn’t like to see a Puffed Vegetable cereal on the grocery store shelf. Yuk! How about you? What would be a really bad cereal flavor choice?: Anything with mustard, that would be gross. Also sushi or mayonnaise don’t belong in cereal.

Quaker Oats Dinosaur Eggs Oatmeal. Brian & I love Dinosaur Eggs Oatmeal but haven’t seen it for awhile.
Are there any other cereal-related things that you like? (ie. cereal bars, etc): Sometimes a trail mix snack WITH chocolate chips added to the granola.
Besides eating cereal in a bowl with milk, are there any other ways you enjoy cereal? (ie. in yogurt, in smoothies, etc.): I like to top yogurt & smoothies with cereals – Especially Cocoa Puffs, Apple Jacks, or Fruit Loops
Have you cooked or baked something with cereal? (ie. Rice Krispie treats, fried chicken): We have made Rice Krispie Treats.
My mom and I think we have baked chicken coated with crushed Corn Flakes. It’s been so long neither of us are positive.

Are there any products that would make a great breakfast cereal?: My mom and I saw HERSHEY’S KISSES cereal at the store! We didn’t buy any boxes, but we’re both dreaming about them!

Not a flavor, but something our family likes about individual packets/containers of cereal: We’re allowed to mail small Care Packages to Brian while he’s deployed! Small containers of cereal (hot or cold), are allowed!

Rice Krispie treats, fried chicken): Lots of cereal treats made with more than rice krispies, we make Christmas Cookies rolled in crushed corn flakes and also a casserole topped with melted butter and crushed corn flakes and “mock” fried ice cream where we mix cinnamon, honey and crushed corn flakes coating scooped vanilla ice cream

What are your favorite types of cold cereal?: Post Oreo O’s, Rice Krispies, Kashi Honey Toasted Organic Oat, Kashi Organic Blueberry Clusters, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms and Reese’s Cereal.
What are your favorite types of hot cereal?: Cream of Wheat and Oatmeal…both topped with brown sugar and strawberries and/or Blueberries.
Are there any other cereal-related things that you like? (ie. cereal bars, etc): Zone Fudge Graham Bars and Zone Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars.
