Minutes

Principal’s/ Asst. Principal’s Report: John Nader told us about the Phys Ed Department’s Ninja Warrior Challenge. Everyone at Lutz took part, with gym teachers helping many students get over the wall to complete the challenge. An assembly was held to celebrate students’ achievements.

Also, the Veteran’s Day assembly was a huge success. Production and assembly class made a special plaque for the vets and students sang “Proud to be an American.”

The student council election was held last week and we now have a new council.

Nick DeVault told us about the Oct. 23rd Apple Crunch, where everyone in the school ate an apple (or apple product) at the same time. Some 2,500 apples were supplied by Westview Orchards to Lutz and other schools. Nick urged everyone to support Westview, noting it was holding a wine and shop night on Dec. 6.

LPG account balance: Eileen was unable to attend tonight, but sent the balance to Julie. It’s $15,876.99. Expenditures included reimbursement to Janet, payment to DJ Zach for the Halloween Dance, and $243 plus a $25 tip for the dance’s pizza dinner. We had two voided checks, one to John for a tax ID# – which we decided not to pursue – and the other to Norma because the amount was incorrect.

John N. noted that Lottery Tree ticket sales have totaled $585 so far. That’s $485 in profit. Ticket sales will continue at parent/teacher conferences later this week.

Halloween Dance: Lisa said the dance was a huge success, with Nick callling it one of the better dances. Some 135 students attended. There was lots of extra pizza, and dance planners are working on ways to reduce leftovers. Also, there was some confusion about whether teachers and volunteers could have pizza and desserts, and we pledge to make it clear at future dances that yes, they can.

Lisa said money from the Achatz Pie sale will go toward the completer’s ceremony, so the small amount of money we made from the dance will go toward the Holiday Luncheon that LPG puts on for students at Christmas.

Norma could be here tonight, but we made $1,382.30 profit on sales of 238 pies from Achatz Pies. A few parents didn’t pick up their orders on time, but the majority did.

LPG is providing a meal for teachers/staff on conference night this Thursday.

The Spirit Wear sale is underway, with orders due Dec. 3 and delivery set for Dec. 18.

Julie displayed this year’s Xmas ornament to be included in small gift bags for each student at the Dec. 20 holiday pizza lunch. The 24 dozen Christmas Light trinkets cost $406.79. LPG spent an additional $14 for gift bags from the dollar store and we have candy canes bought last year aftern the holdiays for 10 cents a box.

Julie is working to make this year’s lunch less chaotic than last year. We’re asking teachers to fill out a form listing how many plates, cups, water, pizza and gift bags are needed for their classrooms. Parent volunteers will deliver the orders to each room that day.

Teacher Lauren K. is looking for help putting together Christmas stockings for needy Macomb County kids and seniors on Nov. 29.

Our next meeting is Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m.
