When I started this website a little over a year ago, I wasn’t exactly sure what information to include or how useful the information provided would be. First, I wanted to keep the Lutz Family up-to-date on happenings in the Parent Group and second to provide another resource for parents to find services and activities for their students.
As I brainstormed, trying to come up with sections that would be beneficial, one that popped up was Completer’s Corner. Realizing that soon my son, Zack, would be completing, information on what to expect was something I thought would definitely be a good thing for parents and students to know.
For over a year the section remained “Under Construction” because unless Zack heard something about the activities Completer’s were enjoying, I really didn’t have a source for information. Yes, I could have bothered John or Nick with yet another request for information, but not wanting to make more work for them and the fact that there was already enough information to relay to the Lutz Family throughout the year, trying to research this area was not in the cards.
Now that Zack is among the 2019/20 Completer’s however, I will have first hand experience with what is happening and what to expect. That, along with knowing more parents that are also entering their final year at Lutz, I hope the Completer’s Corner section of the website will finally be completed. My plan is to try and chroniclize Zack’s experiences and share them with the Lutz Community so when the time comes for your student to “Complete,” you will know a little of what to expect as well as challenges or concerns that may pop up. Although every student’s experience is a little different, they are all a little the same too.
That being said, if there are any parents/guardians/caregivers of 2019/20 Completers that would like to contribute to this section or share their personal experiences, please feel free to do so using the form at the bottom of this post. Further, if any alumni happen to read this and would like to share their experiences, we would love to hear from you as well.
Knowing that our Lutz journey is coming to a close is sad and a bit scary, but at the same time, I know that because of Lutz and all the exceptional people we have had the pleasure to work with and get to know, Zack will excel wherever life may take him. The changes in him since starting at Lutz nearly eight years ago have been phenomenal and I’m sure that this year his growth will continue with every day he has left.

This journey has been one of the “Best Experiences Ever” for our family. For those families just starting their journey or continuing on — you are in for some great times ahead. Make the most of the years you have, because as I’m sure all the current completing families as well as all those who have completed before will agree, the years fly by. I don’t think I’ve ever talked to a parent of a completing student who hasn’t said, “If only they could stay here forever.” Well, forever might be pushing it, but one more year…yeah, we would definitely go for that. If you ask Zack though, forever wouldn’t be long enough.
Thanks for reading,
